Recipe Highlights

  • Peach iced tea is a refreshing peach flavored iced tea. This recipe is made with fresh peaches, creating a peach syrup from scratch. Making peach syrup from scratch makes the drink so much tastier than using peach flavored tea bags.
  • A flavorful iced tea is made by combining Earl Grey and English breakfast tea. (A great tip — thanks, Emily!)
  • This recipe uses brewed tea that is cooled down, but you can also use cold brew tea.

Ingredient Notes

Peach Iced Tea from Scratch (2)
  • Earl Grey tea sachet: Loose tea or tea bags can be used but recommend tea sachets since they’re easy to clean up and contain better quality tea than tea bags.
  • English breakfast tea sachets: You can also use Assam tea sachets which are sometimes sold as English breakfast.
  • Water: Use filtered water if possible since it’ll make your iced tea taste better.
  • Peaches: Fresh peaches would work the best, but you can use frozen peaches if you can’t find fresh.
  • Sugar: Use any sweetener you like but I like regular, granulated sugar.
  • Ice: Make ice cubes using filtered water if possible.

Expert Tips

  • Garnish peach iced tea with thinly sliced peach wedges. Line cups with a couple of peach wedges, fill cup with ice, then pour in iced tea.
  • Any black tea will work great for this peach iced tea. You can use just Earl Grey or English breakfast tea.
  • Try experimenting with different types of tea! An oolong tea or a green tea would go really well with peach.
  • Don’t want to make peach syrup from scratch? Use store-bought peach juice! Add 2 cups of peach juice to the pitcher with tea.
  • Make sure your pitcher can handle high heat if you’re steeping tea directly in it.
  • Instead of pureeing the peaches, you can dice them into small pieces and mash them in the saucepan. Cook on the stovetop 10 minutes longer if you do this. I puree the peaches to shorten the cooking time on the stove.
  • The drink already is sweetened but if you want to add more, use simple syrup to make sure it fully mixes in with the iced tea.
  • Peach iced tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Add ice to the cups instead of in the pitcher with the iced tea so that the iced tea doesn’t get watered down.

Questions You May Have

Can I make this with just English breakfast tea?

Yup! You can use any black tea you like.

Is there caffeine in this drink?

Yes, there’s caffeine in black tea in the Earl Grey and English breakfast tea.

What’s the difference between loose tea, tea sachets, and tea bags?

Loose tea is the best quality, then tea sachets, followed by tea bags, which contain the lowest quality tea. I’m using tea sachets in this recipe since it’s easier to use (less mess) than loose tea.

I want to use loose tea instead, how much do I use?

Replace the tea sachets with 1 tablespoon of loose English breakfast and 1 ½ teaspoons of Earl Grey.
