My Favorite Recipes in the Copper Pot by CopperChef
Several months ago we replaced our kitchen appliances and our stove is now a induction cook surface type. Yeah, in case you didn’t know; there is a world of difference when cooking on a ring burner type and an induction surface.
For a while I wasn’t as thrilled with my new stove as I thought I would be when we purchased it. Little did I know that my favored pots were made long before (as in I have had them for 30 years) the induction surfaces were available for home use.
Of course you know what this little tidbit of knowledge meant… I was then in the market for new pots and pans! Yay me! But what kind? I shared with a few readers that I was looking for new cookware and the Copper Chef brand was mentioned several times. Honestly, the reviews by readers were mixed so when I was asked if I would give the Copper Chef Square Pan a try, I was skeptical.
Have you tried this brand of pans? TheCopper Chef Square Pan is suppose to take the place of six of your smaller kitchen appliances including the stock pot, rice cooker, frying pan, roasting pan, wok, and baking dish. Yikes, that is a lot to live up to with only a single pan!
When theCopper Chef Square Pan arrived, I got it out and looked it over wondering what made this pan so special. According to the packaging and manual, this pan works well on the stove top and in the oven (super convenient), it claims to be non stick and to clean up with almost nothing more than running under water or wiping with a paper towel. Okay… these claims not only had my attention but I couldn’t wait to see if it would live up to them.
The first thing I made in theCopper Chef Square Pan was a steak! Now this is certainly a test by having it on the stove top on high heat while searing the steaks and then tossing in the oven to finish cooking. Results = steaks nicely done.
Over the next month we used the pan for everything from soups to cakes with consistent results.
The pan has handled all the challenges and still performs well. The only issues if you want to call them that, are that the pan scratches easily (mainly along the edge which may be from the lid being metal on metal) and on the outside if it rubs up against any other cookware. It is almost like the outside of the pan is made with a lighter coverage over the inside. The inside still looks new even with all the utensils and dishes made in it. The outside is showing more wear than I expected.
I will say that I have not experienced any of the other complaints that my readers shared such as a metallic taste or the inside not remaining non stick after several uses. Mine seems to still be fine on the inside. Just the top edges and outside of the pan are showing more wear than expected.
My overall opinion on the pan? I do like the size and shape of it a lot. The square pan does allow for more product to fit without crowding. I also like that is a large enough to hold a huge pot of soup and stew. Of course being able to take it from the stove top to the oven is a great feature. The fry basket is convenient and easy to use for small batch frying. Have I replaced all my other kitchen appliances? No, but I do reach for this pan first and that says a lot!
I really appreciate the video recipes that Copper Chef releases. Watching something being made sure makes things easier for me. Here is one of their great videos on making Pine Cone Truffles. I can’t wait to make these this weekend.

Make sure you season the pan a couple of times so they won’t stick. Just like a cast iron pan. I turn on my oven and let it heat up to 400 degrees and then turn off. Take my copper pan and rub oil around on the inside and place it face down on a cookie sheet. Put in oven and leave it until cooled off completely (usually overnight). Also make sure you do not run the hot pan under cold water after cooking, it will warp the pan.

I’ve seen these all over. I would have to do some research on them as far as health concerns. I don’t know if these pots can add copper to the body. I have had too much copper in my body which indicates a zinc deficiency, there is a balance there and when you dump too much copper in your body it is not fun. So, like aluminum pots which we all know now leached into our food, I would be interested to know if the copper ones do the same thing. Thanks for the review.

I have never thought that changing you cooking surface would affect the cookware you were using I am not really in need of any cookware I have always been one of those to try something new but this red copper chef doesn’t appeal to me for some reason.
